Writing for KP

KP Education Systems, publisher of software and web-based CTE curriculum, is in the process of expanding its product line. KP developed the Sous Chef, a complete software-based culinary teaching resource and textbook replacement that gives instructors the flexibility to customize and individually manage their curriculum. At the same time, they can easily assess their students’ progress and performance using the automated (yet customizable) test generator which draws from an extensive question bank based on Bloom’s Taxonomy. KP’s second major product, KP Food Science curriculum, was published in 2010.

A forthcoming endeavor, currently in development, is a sophisticated student tracking system called KP Compass. This program will give students context-sensitive feedback on their progress based on their performance in specific career pathways. More details to come soon!

We are looking for talented authors with unique ideas to contribute to future products in the KP catalog. If you have expertise in any CTE area and would like to see your content published on an e-learning platform, please continue reading.

KP History

KP started with a simple objective: to provide culinary arts instructors with an easy-to-use software-based resource that contains all the information they need to conduct a class, including video demonstrations by a professional chef. In the late 1990s, computer based training (CBT) was starting to emerge in the foodservice industry as a standard to train employees. At the same time, higher education institutions started to develop similar tools for distance learning environments, but their use was limited. The trend in educational resources continued to move away from quickly outdated textbooks and VHS tapes and toward web-based curriculum. KP built on these ideas and is now the leader in taking an integrated approach towards curriculum development using the power of software and the Internet.

The Digital Conversion – More than just an e-book

We believe that e-learning is the future, and that it is essential to design a comprehensive e-learning resource. Creating the text is only a small part of the process of creating digital content. KP Systems products are more than just a digital version of a textbook. They are designed to take full advantage of the power of technology. . If you have already authored a book or full curriculum, you have accomplished the first stage of a digital publication. For a standard one-year curriculum, we estimate that you will need to add 20-25% more work to make the digital conversion fully utilizable in the modern classroom (not including the visual media elements that KP will create). With that commitment and KP Systems taking care of the technology, you can separate yourself from the pack, putting your work in the upper echelon of curriculum and having the unique advantage of being first on the market.
